TAB or Tablature is a method of writing down
music played on guitar or bass. Instead of using
symbols like in standard musical notation, it uses
ordinary ASCII characters and numbers. It indicates
the instrument finger position rather than musical
pitches. Typically it consists of a diagram of the
guitar strings, like this:
E----------------------------------------------------------
B----------------------------------------------------------
G----------------------------------------------------------
D----------------------------------------------------------
A----------------------------------------------------------
E----------------------------------------------------------
with the finger positions indicated by numerals
corresponding to the appropriate frets.
